Minister of Women's Affairs Encourages Women Entrepreneurs to Continue Efforts to Contribute to Socio-economic Development

PHNOM PENH: The Honorary Minister of Women's Affairs, Ing Kantha Phavi encouraged women entrepreneurs to continue their efforts to contribute to socio-economic development, especially in the context of economic recovery in the context of living in the new normal and participating in local and international trade. These remarks were made by the Honorary Minister of Women's Affairs at the Opening Ceremony of the Annual Meeting and the 10th Anniversary of the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA) on Thursday afternoon, 31 March 2022.

On behalf of the Minister of Women's Affairs and the Co-Founder of the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association, Honorary Minister of Womens 'Affairs, Ing Kantha Phavi congratulated and appreciated the hard work and dedication of the Board and all its members which leads the association to achieve the same results and progress.

The Minister stated that, in fact, the Association has prepared research in the first, second and third white papers on the needs and challenges of women entrepreneurs who can become capital for research and as an input to the preparation of basic measures to address the challenges of women entrepreneurs. At the same time, she also mentioned the high attention and efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia in launching measures, policies and support to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cambodia, including women entrepreneurs, such as the introduction of enterprise development funds, banks, small and medium enterprises, as well as national strategies on the financial environment.

Honorary Minister Ifng Kantha Phavi stated that for the regional level and on behalf of Cambodia as the host of the ASEAN Summit in 2022, the Ministry of Women's Affairs will organize the 2nd ASEAN Women Leaders' Summit under the theme "Building Sustainability, Environment and Sustainability in the Future through Promoting Women's Entrepreneurship in ASEAN", which will be a regional event that empowers women voices was presented to the top leaders of ASEAN countries and is expected to issue an ASEAN Declaration on the topic of women's entrepreneurship.

It should also be reminded that the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association was officially established in 2012 with the initiative of Minister of Women's Affairs, and the support of Mr. Sok Siphana and Ms. Ly Ly Sambath.
